Erasmus

On the 10th of April 5 teachers (Ms. Morissey, Ms. Maye, Ms. Hennessy, Ms. Fouhy and Ms. Keane) traveled to Venice to attend an Erasmus course entitled ‘ Using works of art in the classroom, theory and practice’ in the European Cultural Academy. The course lasted 5 days and we covered the following aspects of art in the classroom;
  • Using art as a stimulus
  • Collaborative art
  • Gallery visits- Using these for looking and responding to art
  • Curricular focus based on works of art.
  • Collaborated with others schools from around Europe and discussed teaching and learning in art.
  • Art using alternative materials and methods

Outside of the course hours we got to experience the wonderful cultural and social side of Venice. As a project we have chosen to focus on 'cubism' in art from Juniors to 2nd based on our learning. As a staff we really enjoyed our Erasmus trip to Venice and we would advocate for others to avail of this experience if it arises again!
