Earth Day 2021
To mark Earth Day 2021, the pupils made some posters showing the different ways we can care for our planet. Each pair presented their poster to their classmates!
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh!
While we were learning from home, one of our favourite activities to do each week was to play some Wordwall games. We really enjoyed the wordsearches and the matching pairs game in particular. Now that we are back in school we decided to grab the iPads and play these games in class with our friends! Plenty of fun was had!
World Book Day
First Class have been busy celebrating World Book Day! We listened to our favourite authors reading some chapters from their most popular books. We became illustrators and designed our own unique book covers. We also designed some bookmarks which we are going to use with our library books in school. You can take a look at our very colourful bookmarks below!
Engineers Week 2021!
To celebrate Engineers Week, First Class spent an evening designing and making beam bridges using cubes. We used our very own Ballyhooly bridge as inspiration. Take a look at our results!
2D Shape Robots!
First Class have been very busy learning all about 2D shapes in Maths. For Art they each created their very own robot using a selection of different 2D shapes!
First Class made the most of the nice weather in September! They enjoyed making some jigsaw puzzles outside!
Science Week 2020!
First Class had great fun celebrating all things Science! Take a look at some of the experiments and activities we completed.
Schulten Inspired Art
Over the past two weeks, First Class have been working on art pieces based on Dutch artist Ton Schulten. Schulten was known for using bright blocks of colour. Take a look at how we got on. I think you'll agree there are some budding artists in First Class!
'Winter Wind' by Jim Halligan
First Class have been learning how to write a recipe. Having made some strawberry jelly in class, we took pencil to paper and wrote down all the steps we followed. Our hard work was rewarded when we got to taste the delicious jelly we had made!
As money has been our most recent topic in Maths, we have been busy using coins from 1c to 10c. Each group set up their own shop with all the children getting the chance to buy something!
Our Christmas Performances!
We hope you enjoy some festive songs and poems which we have been busy learning this month!
