We love learning rhymes and poems in Junior Infants! We have learned so many since September and this is one of our favourites. 'I've been eaten by a BOA CONSTRICTOR'

Halloween in Junior Infants

We had lots of fun on the day of the Halloween break in Junior Infants. We carved pumpkins and took turns pulling out the insides, we did some spooky baking and we all dressed up and had a fashion show. We even had Rapunzel in teaching us for the day!

Aistear - Halloween and The Costume Shop

This week fir Aistear we did the costume shop. We too turns working as shop assistants, managers, staff on the till and customers. We were excellent at using questioning vocabulary during drama, to ask for different sizes and enquire about ordering costumes for certain ages and interests. We were modeling Halloween shapes and following instructions with playdough and for messy play we made potions with lots of water and glitter and used our imaginations to decide what our potions would do! We also built haunted house, witches brooms, cauldrons and other Halloween items at the construction station.

Fine Motor Skills

Before we started handwriting this year we did lots of fine motor skills practice during stations time in the morning. We were threading, pegging, building, using links, beading and practiced holding our pencils and scissors correctly.

Art

We have been learning a rhyme about baking so this Friday we used paint and cotton buds to do some Pointillism art of a cake.

Aistear - The Restaurant

We have been learning all about the restaurant during Aistear. We took turns being waiters and waitresses, chefs, reception staff, customers and delivery drivers at the drama station. For art we made our own menus using pictures from shop brochures. We built restaurant buildings and all the things you might find inside during construction. We also loved using playdough for messy play to make different foods for our restaurants.

Christmas 'Concert' 2020

We have spent lots of time learning some songs and poems for Christmas. Unfortunately we cannot have a normal concert this year, but we have made a lovely video for EVERYONE to watch from the safety of their own homes! We hope all the parents, grannies and grandads, uncles and aunts, cousins and neighbours enjoy watching us star in our own little show this year!
                                Merry Christmas Everybody!
