Welcome to our new Second Class pupils!

We have been so busy in second class and we have done so many nice things since September! We started off learning all about 'Mé Féin' in Irish. We created lovely Autumn Tree art.
The children have been learning how to do procedural writing and wrote some lovely recipes. They also learnt about writing letters and each child posted a letter to a child in first class - the first class loved receiving their special letters!
The children have been doing really great at 'Spellings for Me' and they are getting so good at using the iPads. Each child has been logging in and listening to stories on 'Epic' books.
Mr. McCarthy has been helping in second class aswel and he did some beautiful singing with the children. They had great fun practising with him! They did some lovely baking on his last day, yummy!
For 'Climate Action Week' the children listened to a lovely story on Zoom from author Oisín McGann, they then illustrated a drawing with him. They did really well!
The children have been learning how to use oil pastels and made beautiful oil pastel pumpkin pictures. The following week they made some very scary looking oil pastel monsters! They're all so artistic in second class!
Maths week is the week before midterm and the children are doing super investigative maths homework at home. Each day we are doing maths stations in school which the children are really enjoying. They are playing maths games on the iPads, working with patterns and construction and having fun games of Snakes and Ladders. On Friday they will do a maths trail around the school.
Each week the children enjoy their PE lessons, we have been playing lots of games and have gone on some lovely walks to the pitch.
