Art
Perfect for a creative, colourful class!

Drawings inspired by the Irish artist, Eoin O' Connor.
The 6th class students created these fantastic animal portraits using oil pastels. They added their own colourful borders to create the finished look. The children worked on these over the course of two weeks.
Growth mindset

This year, our 6th class students are learning all about Growth Mindset. We have been focusing on the power of yet and how important it is to view challenges and difficulties in a positive way.
We are seeing the importance of using mistakes to further our learning.
Instead of saying that we 'can't do something, we are saying 'I am not there YET!'
Understanding that our brains are muscles is key! We are doing brain gym every morning and the children are making extra effort to include some brain healthy foods in their lunchboxes - the most popular choices seem to be blueberries, strawberries, oranges and eggs!

Martin Luther King Jr.
In History, we have been learning all about Civil Rights and segregation in America during the lifetime of MLK Jr. We looked at images which depicted the levels of segregation between 'whites' and 'non-whites' at the time as well as learning all about Martin Luther King Jr's upbringing, education and influences.
In ICT, the children created a page on their History google site about MLK Jr and one other Civil Rights leader e.g. Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony etc.
In Art, the students produced stunning portraits of MLK Jr.
Here are the students presenting one of the most famous quotes from Martin Luther King Jr's famous speech, 'I have a dream':

.....I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character...' |
