Spring Cherry Blossoms
Earth Day 2021
Last week on the 22nd of April we celebrated Earth day in 3rd class. We looked at different ways we can help the environment in our own daily lives. We also learned a song about recycling and decided what recycling bins different items would be put into. We also completed some posters about caring for our Earth.
Fairtrade Projects
Since we came back to school after Easter we have done lots of work about the Fairtrade movement in 3rd class. We have researched different products we could find in our local supermarkets that are part of Fairtrade and what symbols to look out for. We then researched and made projects on Google Slides and Google Docs about who Fairtrade helps and benefits. Lots of us also brought in Fairtrade wrappings from products we had at home.
Easter Egg Drop Challenge!
In 3rd class we have been busy over the past 2 weeks since returning to school and have had lots of fun catching up with everyone again. We have had fun over the past week designing and making egg drop challenge containers out of recyclable materials. See below some of the great designs we came up with in our pairs. It was great fun seeing which eggs broke and which didn't based on the materials we used.
Engineers week 2021 from home
This week was Engineers week and while we were still at home in 3rd class that didn't stop some of us from trying our hand at being engineers for the week and getting creative. See below some of the pictures of what we created from bird feeders to roller coasters. Well done to all in 3rd class who took on the challenge this week!
Creative Activities at home!
While we have been working really hard over the past number of weeks at home, this week we did some creative activities from construction, baking and art also. See below some pictures of the work we have gotten up to! Well done to all for being so creative this past week.

Christmas Festivities
We have been so busy in 3rd class over the past month doing lots of festive activities from our own Advent calendar, winter art, Christmas songs to decorating our own tree in the classroom. We also researched Christmas around the world and made our own projects on them and presented them to our class. See some pictures of the activities we have done below.
New Zealand
In 3rd class we have been exploring all about New Zealand in Geography over the past month. We have looked at different parts of their culture from Maori people, the haka and their famous landmarks and attractions. We have made our own Maori masks and also towers in science based off the famous sky tower in Auckland. We also learnt the haka as Gaeilge. See below some of the great work we got up to!
Science Week 2020
During science week 2020 we conducted different experiments and activities each day and we also looked at a different scientist each day from Alexander Bell, Marie Curie to Stephen Hawkins. See some of the pictures below of the different experiments we conducted during the week from testing coin cleaning products to making tornados in a jar!

Amazon Rainforest projects
In the month of October we learnt all about the Amazon rainforest in class. We looked at the different layers of the rainforest, plants and wildlife as well as different tribes that live amongst the rainforest. We presented our projects based on the Amazon in class in many different forms from google slides, google docs and also some of us made posters. All of our work was really interesting and a lot of time and effort was put into our research both in school and at home. See below some of the work done by some of us in 3rd class.
